Rosa Parks Field Trip

Lincoln's 3rd Grade Class went to the Rosa Parks museum this week.  I tagged along!
We visited this museum four years ago.  It's amazing how much more information you can take in when you go with a class of eight year olds vs. ONE four year old!

McWane Science Center

Everyone was off for Veteran's Day so, we headed to Birmingham to the McWane Science Center.
Ethan rushed to try the bed of nails!
There were a lot of fun interactive exhibits.
There was definitely an art to making these giants bubbles.
 Tight rope biking was fun!
As I was researching the science center, I found an article about Veteran's Day.
Apparently, the celebration started in Birmingham.
On our way out, we saw lots of people and these guys across the street watching the city parade.
It was a super fun day!

Happy Halloween

We left for trick-or-treating about 6:00 and hit about 5 houses in our pod.  We left for the next pod and saw no lights on.  We walked to the next pod, and saw no lights on.  We decided to walk to one more.  On our way, we decided to take some pictures with these spooky looking trees!
Poor Ethan was burning up in his costume!
Lincoln had lots of ideas for pirate poses.
The last pod had about 6 or 7 houses with their lights on.
We laughed and said that at least we walked off the calories we were going to eat when we got home!

Lunchroom

Ethan is eating in the lunchroom everyday.  I love hearing how AMAZING his lunch is everyday.  Below you can see his October menu.  His favorite meal for the month was baked tilapia and rice.
Link would have the same menu but he refuses to buy his lunch because he is afraid he wouldn't have enough time to finish his lunch.
On a side note, his bus is 25-30 minutes late three or four days a week. I told him I was going to start picking him up and he screamed, "NO....I don't know how to be a car rider!!!!"
I am glad Ethan is enjoying school lunches this year!!!!

Saint James Fall Festival

Our church had their fall festival tonight.  The kids were super excited to dress up and have fun!
Jake from State Farm found his company truck!
There were some amazing trunks!  I loved Andy's bedroom.
The line for the Star Wars trunk was LONG!
It was very cool though.
Of course, the Auburn fans were out!
After trunk or treat, we went inside for carnival games.
The kids loaded up on candy and had a great time.

Carr Field Day

Ethan had field day on Friday.  As a member of the PTSA, I worked the concession stand.
I enlisted Memaw and Pappy to come help.
Memaw worked concessions with me and Pappy manned one of the inflatables.
Ethan and his friends ate tons of junk, jumped on the inflatables,
and walked around visiting with each other.
It was a really sunny, warm day.
 I think everyone enjoyed themselves!

Survivor Party

Ethan has been planning a Survivor Birthday party for months.
He invited his class and his friend Jack (and his brother and sister).  The teams drew buffs.
Ethan named the tribes, but Nate and I couldn't remember the names, so we called them blue and red.

The first challenge was the water challenge.
We may have drilled a few too many holes in the buckets.  We had to move the last bucket a lot closer or this game would have lasted all night.
Everyone was soaked by the end!
Up next was the gross food challenge.
We started with "cow's tongue" or spam!
Almost everyone gave it a try.
Next up was "chicken hearts" or beets!
Most everyone ate this too.  I loved their reactions.
Lincoln said he loved them both, but this was his face!
The final food was crickets.  We had bacon flavored and sour cream and onion flavored crickets.
This one was harder for some of them!  They were very unsure!
A few of the kids had their cell phones and they started videoing this part.
 Lincoln tried all three!
Next up was the bean bag toss.  They had to throw the bean bag into the rungs of the ladder for different points.
This was more difficult than I thought, but it was very fun!
I loved the memory challenge.  The reason I loved it was Mirette, the first grader, won for the blue team!  She beat out five sixth graders!
The red team ultimately won!  I was super proud of her though!
My very favorite challenge was the blind fold challenge.  Cameron used a cu-caw sound to have his team follow him.  It was HILARIOUS!
 It worked perfectly!
Once the teams retrieved all of their bags, they had to rush back for the puzzle.
I found some amazing world maps and they had to put the map back together.
We also hid an immunity idol for extra points.
At the end of the challenges, blue beat red by five points.  It was so close!
The kids worked up an appetite!
 I love my girls!
 Survivor cake!
Either he asked for all money and gift cards, or middle schoolers only do gift cards and money!
This was the best group of kids.  It was so fun.
I am hoping that they are tired since two are spending the night!
Happy Birthday, Ethan!
