Play time

Marilyn is here and she has been doing some major playing with the fellas!! The noisy train was busted out, and as usual it took up our entire living room.
She also let them get out the playdough! Nate and I were gone for this fun adventure, but we heard that had a great time! Ethan's school is out for Teacher Workday Monday and Tuesday, so I know that they will have even more adventures this week!

Saturday at the Museum

Saturday morning, Ethan had basketball at 9:00. Since we were dressed and out we decided to head into DC to spend some time at the American History Museum. The boys have been talking about Presidents and Martin Luther King Jr. lately, so we knew they would enjoy the museum.
Our very first stop was on the third floor. The boys rushed into the Abraham Lincoln Exhibit.
We also spent quite a bit of time looking at the Presidents on the wall. Ethan found pictures of the most recent Presidents and Martin Luther King Jr.
Link found a picture of a ship and was convinced it was one of the President's Pirate Ships.
We enjoyed looking at the Star Spangled Banner Flag, the trains, and ships. We ended the trip getting Marilyn another smashed penny. She had to get two so both boys could squish one!

Daddy's turn

Ethan's school closed again today. It was Nate's turn to stay home with the boys today!
We went sledding twice yesterday and Nate took them once today!

I think Ethan would be thrilled to go sledding everyday, but it seems Link is done with the snow!

We got some great video yesterday! Here are a few.

Sledding

We got LOTS of snow!! The fellas could hardly wait to get outside today. They had snowball fights. They had lots of sledding. Ethan was able to sled by himself. You can see a little video the end of this post. I have no clue why Link decided to lay down for a while. If he wasn't sledding with me, he was getting pulled by me. He did not exert any energy today! ha!I may have overdid it with the "bundling" up of everyone. We ended up taking hats, scarfs, and even coats off for a while. That didn't stop us from having a little "warm" chocolate when we got home!

Snowy Weather

We are FINALLY getting our first "real" snow of the year. The above picture was taken 15 minutes after the snow started. They are calling for 5-8 inches. I can actually relax and enjoy it this year. As I am typing this, Nate is out shoveling with the brand new ergonomic snow shovel I had to order last year. Our old snow shovel broke from the massive shoveling I had to do last year while he was in the desert! I can't wait to hear how this one works! We are crossing our fingers for a snow day tomorrow. We have new sleds that we want to try out!

Funny Faces!

I bought these AMAZING plates for Christmas! They LOVE them!!! They loved this little king that I made for lunch.
It got Ethan talking about Martin Luther King Jr. since we just celebrated his birthday. As he finished lunch, he asked if I would make Martin Luther King Jr. tomorrow. Link says, "Yeah was he a bad king or a good king?"

Story Teller

Lincoln LOVES a good story....especially when it has a bad guy. Lately, he has requested a bible story every night. The ones he requests have bad guys in them. You all know his favorite is King Herrod. He loves Esther and Haman. David and Goliath is also a frequently requested story.
I was the teacher helper in his Sunday School class this morning. The story was about the lost sheep and how the Shepherd went looking for the lost lamb. It was a quick story. The kids finished their projects quickly. We had a few minutes before the parents were to arrive, so Ms. Ali started reading the story of David and Goliath. Lincoln did his Momma proud and answered most of the questions! He even told her that David was a shepherd and then turned into King David. I was impressed and so was Ms. Ali. She continued reading the story and Lincoln called me, "Hey Mommy!!!!!" I replied, "Yes Lincoln." Ali stops reading the story thinking he is about to contribute something. Then he says, "My booty's itchy!" Ahhhhh.....

Too big!

These are a few sayings overheard while playing:

E-han, you are just being a bully.

Well Lincoln, I don't like the words you are using.

E-han, keep your hands off me.

Link, you better get your attitude in order.

E-han, I'll do whatever I want and you do whatever you want.

Lincoln, I'll worry about myself and you worry about yourself.

E-han, you better play with me or I will not be happy with you.

Link, that is not what three year olds do. Do you want to be a two year old again?

I wonder where they hear this stuff? ha!

A lot of work

Nate and I asked Link to go wash his hands after wiping his nose. He says, "In the kitchen?" I tell him, "No in the bathroom. You can't reach the kitchen sink."After a few minutes, Nate and I both tune in to some loud grunting. So naturally thinking he is in the bathroom, Nate says, "Are you ok?" He says, "Yeah, I am washing my hands." So I look in the kitchen to see him with the stool and the scrub brush. He is trying to turn on the water with the brush.

He is such a free thinker....and a stinker!!

A little break in the weather

After a wet and icy day off yesterday, we had a 45 degree afternoon. We had to drag the boys outside for a few minutes. They were engrossed in legos and didn't want the fresh air!
Nate and I started a little friendly competition to get them moving! We split them up on the two sidewalks and had them race home! Link won by a few feet! I think we need to move Ethan's seat and handlebars up. He seriously needs to quit growing!

Basketball Part II

The second class of basketball started last week. We tried the 6-8 year old class this time. I think it going to be a great class for him.
The best part is that Phil from Ethan's last class is teaching this class as well!Ethan is getting better with his dribbling.

He is also getting better with his shooting. The goals are much higher! Did you notice that there are two girls in his class? I love it!!!!!

Do your kids have those toys that you love for them to play with because it keeps them busy forever.....but they become such a mess and the kids never want to clean them up? Link got a ton of dress up clothes for Christmas and he loves, loves, loves them! Ethan also really enjoys playing with him, but they throw such a fit cleaning them up.

What does your mother do???

Nate and Link were eating breakfast when I hear, "MANDY....CAN YOU COME HERE!!" Nate says, "I need help. What is he saying?" Then Link says, "Member dat fairy fory at fool. Dee one wit dee fefifin." I then say, "Yes, I remember that scary story at school. The one with the skeleton!" We might need to be a little more aggressive with the speech therapy.

Groove Thang

We are officially back in the swing of things. We have all been to work or school for three days now. The boys are so excited to get home and play with their new toys. They are also super excited to see each other after school. Link talks about what he and Ethan are going to do when they get home all the way to Ethan's school.
Link has had a difficult time napping at school. They nap a few hours earlier than we do at home, and (shocker) he wants to talk during naps. Today when we got in the car he said, "It's all Ms. Christina's fault that I took a nap today. She said she was gonna call my momma!" Hey...whatever works!

White Christmas

Memaw and Pappy got the boys sleds for Christmas. Since we had no snow in Virginia, we were looking forward to playing while we were in PA. We only had one day to really play because the winds were about 40 MPH. On Tuesday, we suited up and headed out to play!
Ethan was so excited. He was the first one dressed and ready!

After lots of convincing, we got Link on the sled. It didn't last long. He wanted his Memaw and warmth!

Nate moved the sleds to the driveway and Ethan squealed with excitement.

Link decided to give it one more shot after hearing Ethan's screams!

But, he quit quickly and found a shovel. This lasted about two minutes and I saw him running inside! When we came in, he was snuggled up with Memaw on the couch!

We had to drag Ethan in. Daddy took him out to the street and we had a blast watching him. In the end, he talked Daddy into getting on the sled and Ethan pulled him....while I helped by pushing him!

Christmas at Memaw and Pappy's house!

Our plan for Christmas day was to open gifts, eat lunch, have Link take a nap, and then head out to Memaw and Pappy's house. About an hour after opening gifts, we noticed that they were both playing video games. Nate said, "Heck, they can do this in the car! Let's head out earlier!" As you can see by Memaw's face this was a horrible idea! ha!Memaw had so many presents for them. We all had such a good time watching the boys open their gifts!

They got lots of bath toys! As you can see we have an artist on our hands!
Lincoln had to show Uncle Jer and Memaw his new DS.
And once Aunt Missy and Alicia came, Ethan did too!
A trip to Memaw and Pappy's would not be complete without a new Steeler shirt!
