Oct 6, 2004

It was taco night! I was tired and needed a nap before fixing dinner. We fell asleep on the couch together (not sure how we both fit with my fat belly). Judge Judy was on in the background. I woke up needing to pee (so I thought). My water had broken. I was in MAJOR denial. It was four and a half weeks until my due date. I hadn't even been to the birthing class. My bag was not packed. In fact, I wasn't even going to take a bag to the hospital because there was NO WAY I was going to have a baby that night! It was too early! We did in fact have a baby that night and he was PERFECT! Tomorrow, Ethan will turn FIVE years old. He's at his Memaw's house (having a blast) and will be there until Thursday. So, Nate and I celebrated our "last night without kids anniversary" today by going out to an awesome restaurant in DC! It's been five years since we were just a couple. I can't imagine life without those fabulous boys! I think we are much better as a FAMILY!

Pappy's retirement ceremony

Pappy's retirement ceremony was Saturday in Pittsburgh. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we were able to take a few pictures before we headed to the base. The first thing we did when we arrived, was take the boys to Pappy's plane. We were able to let the boys climb in and sit in the seats.
They were super excited to sit in the pilot's seat and look at all the buttons. There were five planes out Saturday. All were C-130s. As soon as we got off the first one, Lincoln started running towards the other ones screaming, "open the other ones!" He loved the planes! The party was starting soon, so we headed over to the pavilion for the party.
It was conveniently located next to a baseball field, a tennis court, and a volleyball court. The boys ran around the tennis court until Lincoln did a nose dive and skinned his lip and nose up. We tried our best to keep him from running, but that didn't go over well!
This was the only thing that slowed him down! He loved the burgers!!
Saturday night gave us such a true picture of these boys. They knew NO one at the party except family. So many people had heard about the boys from Pappy and wanted to say hello. Ethan shut down and would not say a word. Lincoln was the life of the party. He was running around smiling. He would go to total strangers. Ethan stayed super close to his favorite person, Memaw!!

After three tries at having Pappy's retirement ceremony, he finally was able to say good-bye to the fellas at the base Saturday night. The boys had a blast running around, eating good food, and staying up late! We went to a hotel near the base with the hopes of getting the boys a little extra sleep. My kids will not sleep in the car. It's weird. About 4:45 Sunday morning, Lincoln woke up coughing and no one could sleep. So, we headed back to Memaw's and actually woke her up! She was not expecting us so early! On the drive to her house, Ethan said, "Mommy, do you know what my favorite part was?...It was the planes!"

the First B/day gift

Uncle Jeremy bought Ethan his first birthday present for his FIFTH b/day! Saturday was a gorgeous day and Ethan was able to test it out.
He was reluctant at first (like he is with everything), but he really loved it once he got the hang of it!

This little man was in heaven riding Pappy's tractor! Memaw offered to keep the kiddos this week. So, I am spreading the posts out this week since my subjects are away until Thursday!!

Over the river and through the woods

Over heard this morning (while getting dressed):

So, Link all we have to do is go to school. Mommy is going to get Daddy and then pick us up. The car will have all our stuff in it and then we can go STRAIGHT to Memaw's house. That's all we have to do! Won't that be great???

He is super excited!

We need one of these!!!

This is Jaden. She is eight and FABULOUS! Joe and Rachel (friends from Dayton) moved here last weekend and we finally got together for dinner tonight. My boys are already in L-O-V-E with her! The best, best, best thing about her is.....she's a reader!! She voluntarily read to them and they loved it!
We also had this little man over tonight! He was missing his Mommy so he got extra loving from the Leaps. In this household, it means lots of kisses and hugs and more kisses. ***I just wish I remembered to take that darn bib off before I got the camera out!**

Daddy's truck

It's amazing how excited these boys get over riding in Daddy's truck! Nate took the boys to school and picked them up today! They were in HEAVEN!!!
I saw a blog about making t-shirt designs using freezer paper. They looked sooo easy, so today I made each boy a shirt. Ethan HAD to have numbers on his shirt, hence the 999. (It looked sooo much cuter without the number, but it's his shirt!)They were so easy and cute! I can't wait to make Aaron Hill a little baby one!!!
