Happy 4th of July-DC!

We had a cookout at our house tonight. Then we all headed to the Pentagon to watch the fireworks. While Nate and the boys were waiting in line for the port-a-potty, a man asked Link if he was a future President. He said, "No, but I am gonna be one some day!"
He also asked Ethan if he was from Texas. Nope, but his Mommy is!!!

The girls and fellas chilling before the fireworks.
Ethan and Justin relaxing.
Lincoln eating marshmallows and Daddy eating sunflower seeds.

Ethan asked Mr. Joe if he would race with him.It was a close one.....until Aaron had a crash! We parked in a perfect spot to see the fireworks. It's not everyday that you can say you watched fireworks in DC from the Pentagon.
The whole crew watching the fireworks.

Lincoln on the Lincoln 2011

I've been bugging Nate for weeks that I want to make it back to the Lincoln Memorial to get the updated picture of Lincoln on the Lincoln. We only have one more month here and the boys with be in Pennsylvania two of the four Saturdays. So, we headed there today after Ethan's last basketball class!

This is the original picture taken almost three years ago! He was about 16 months old. This is his SERIOUS face outside the memorial. They were doing some work on the Reflection Pond. This is just a sad picture!
We parked next to Albert Einstein. I can't believe we never made it to see him. As we left today, Nate and I said, "I think we've done it all!!"

2011 White House Easter Egg Roll

We thought the Easter Egg Roll would be the perfect way to end our Spring Break!

This year we were so lucky to have Nate with us! About half way into the event, Nate says, "How did you do this by yourself last year?" WILLPOWER!!!!
All last week, Link asked if Curious George was Disney. He wanted to hug him last week. He got his wish today!
We started a game pretty close to the White House. About half way through the soccer game, the Obamas and Colbie Caillat came out. Last year, they didn't come out while we were there!
We were super lucky to see them this year. After they talked a few minutes, they went into the crowd to do some of the games.
We went back to playing.
Link needed a little help jumping over the hurdles.
We stopped at the egg hunt. The boys were allowed to find two eggs. Ethan finished in about two seconds.
I don't know what this crazy kid was doing. I think he was trying to get the big eggs.
We decided to walk to the food section. On the way, we stopped to watch Kelly Ripa and Al Roker for a few minutes.
As we were waiting, this lady walked up!! We were four rows back and totally not expecting her!
We watched her for a few minutes and walked over to get a pear and an apple for the boys. As we were stopping, she walked right by and she even shook my hand!!!
We ended the day with shade and pears!!! We have been so blessed during our time in DC!!!

National Building Museum

We FINALLY made it to the National Building Museum. We've been talking about it forever, but just hadn't made it! The museum is pretty, but the highlight of the museum is the Lego room.
They boys squeezed into a spot, and started their building. Link made lots of little structures. He turned around each time and asked me to take his picture.
MOMMYYYYY....take my picture!
So, of course, I kept taking pictures of his cute little face!
Daddy helped Ethan get a big house started.
About 45 minutes later, they put their structures on the table for finished projects and posed ONE more time!!!! I wish they got this excited about the Legos at their house!

Sunday lunch

The flowers are blooming. The weather is TRYING to warm up!
My Ethan is getting so much better at taking pictures! No editing was needed on this one!
On one of my girl's night out events, we went to eat at Eatonville in DC. It's cajun/southern food. I really wanted Nate and the boys to try it out. On YELP, it says it is not kid friendly. I thought if we tried lunch/brunch we would be fine. We eat out a lot, and our fellas are pretty good at restaurant manners. We also spent a few minutes in the car talking about how they need to be on their best behavior.
Momma and Daddy were super excited to try our fried chicken, biscuits, mac and cheese, and collard greens!!! The boys were great! They kept it together for quite awhile. AND then.....the check would not come. Our waitress received a HUGE party. We pulled the credit card out. We tried to get her attention. I pulled Link over to my lap. She finally took the card. Then, Link lost it. He hit Nate (I am still not sure why). Nate got onto him and he stomped back over to his seat. On his way, he hit his eye on the edge of the table.
This shiner popped up immediately. He's pretty tough. He cried, but not for long. The black eye is even worse tonight. You know, even though the last five minutes were a pain (literally), the food was totally worth it! I think Link might even agree!
It took us almost 45 minutes to get home! We had to drive right by the Cherry Blossom festival, which started today! We were so thankful we went last week!!

It was so nice having Amanda and the kids with us, plus we had a built in photographer!
It was fun taking pictures of her and her cuties!!!
Link was a little CRAZY tonight, but Ethan was a trooper and did some cute poses for me!
This beauty loved getting her picture taken, too!!!
