Garmisch weekend

Over President's Day weekend, we went to Garmisch. Nate went skiing on Saturday and the boys and I went touring around. One of our first stops was the reptile house in Oberammergau.

It was a very small house, but it had some really cool animals!

This guy was my favorite.

We walked around the little village. The fellas found the candy shop very quickly!

They also found this movie studio/museum. It was closed, but I bet we stood here ten minutes looking in the window! I had to drag them away!

It was a GORGEOUS day! We were able to eat outside and enjoy the view!

We stopped at a craft store to look around. They found lots of things that they HAD to have!!

We had big plans to do some hiking on Sunday. The weather stopped all of those plans. It rained all day! We decided to drive into Innsbruck for the morning. We were hoping we could walk around and stop in a coffee shop. EVERYTHING was closed! So, we did a quick drive around the city.

It was pretty, but the weather was horrible!

We drove back to Garmisch for lunch. It was cool seeing where the snow turned into rain on the mountain. We had a great time. This winter has been so crazy. It was such a bummer that there was NO SNOW for sledding! Hopefully, next year we will have an actual winter!

Sochi Olympics

Our family was super excited when the Olympics kicked off Friday night. Lincoln has a school project on the Olympics. He took notes on his favorite Olympic sport (snowboarding)!

First he made an Olympic torch!

Our friends, the Browns, brought some yummy Russian food! It really was delicious!

After food, the kids played Olympic Pictionary.

Ethan has been watching as much as he can.

He is getting really frustrated with the Figure Skating coverage.

It seems its always on!

Basketball

Ethan has basketball every Saturday. His team is doing really well this year.

Nate and I have had a great time watching them play.

Lincoln has gotten a lot reading done! Haha!

Sushi Party

The Browns, Maduras, and Leaps had a sushi party Sunday night!

Nate was the sushi maker helper.

Lincoln picked fried shrimp and carrots.

Ethan picked shrimp, crab, avocado, and cucumber.

YUMMY!

Nate and I picked spicy tuna and California rolls.

Tami was a show off and made her sushi with the rice on the outside. Her sushi was so pretty.

These are Melissa's. Her sushi was prettier than mine too! It was super fun!

Honor Roll

Ethan made the all A's honor roll AGAIN!! Woohoo!

Field Trip to AFN

On Friday, Lincoln's class went to AFN. AFN stands for the Armed Forces Network.

This AFN building has a TV and radio studio. We were super excited to see how both worked!

The kids started off learning about the TV studio.

We had a great guide at AFN! He was super funny and let the kids try everything out!

Lincoln enjoyed making faces in the camera!

Julian got to try out the microphone.

Mrs. Smith gave them note pads to take notes.

Next up was the radio studio.

Our guide let the kids pick a song and play it over the speakers.

It was fun to see what each kiddo picked as their favorite song.

Lincoln picked Sean Kingston's Fire Burning.

Our last stop was in the actual studio. This is the DJ.

He let them take a quick peek before saying hello to them on the radio!

Our guide was super funny! He quickly learned the way to get them to pay attention. Within the first five minutes he said "poopy face." After that, they were all ears!!!!

I love that the kids go to school on base. It leads to so many great walking field trips. Tomorrow, I am going into Link's class to talk about my profession!
