Crash

We took Jaden on a bike ride this morning. Ahhhh....look at those sweet happy faces. Don't they look so happy and excited to start their bike ride!
Umm....yeah....that lasted about 2 minutes. We started the trip a little further down the trail. I guess it is a lot hillier than up the trail. Ethan started going too fast and had a pretty bad fall. We gave him some attention and told him we needed to get back on the trail and at least head back to towards the car. You would have thought he had his legs amputated! The screaming and yelling was sooo ridiculous. I wish I had a video to show you. It ensued for about a half hour. Nate and I had had enough and we decided to go. I told him to cut out the screaming and I got this......

and the ugly!

The good....
When I picked Ethan up from school, we learned that Ethan was a star student at school today. He was sent to the office to get his name on a wall outside the office for being an outstanding student!

The bad.....
When I picked Lincoln up from school, I learned that he had been sent to timeout for talking when he was supposed to be quiet. He has also been sent to timeout for sticking his tongue out at the teacher during chapel. Oh Linky....thank goodness you are so cute!

The ugly....
In case you are wondering.....YES that is a GIANT Pirate flag on the wall in our toy room. Bob got it for them at a Pirates game a few weeks ago and the men in my life love it!!!!

Mountain Vernon Trail

We decided to try out a little bike riding as a family, yesterday. Our neighborhood, and even road for that matter, is mainly hills. So, we put the bikes in the truck and drove over to the Mount Vernon trail. When Ethan called Memaw later that day, he called it the Mountain Vernon trail!
It is a heavily populated trail. There are joggers, and bikers, roller bladers, and walkers.
Ethan took the lead and that poor fella pedaled like crazy!!!! He only stopped 10-20 times for water! ha!!! He stops with NO warning. I almost crashed twice! ha!
At one of our water stops, we ran into our friends the Kelleys. They rode all the way down to Mount Vernon, which was a 10 mile trip. We made it two miles, which I thought was fantastic!!!

BEAT!!!

The whole family has been tired from school/work this week! On Thursday, as soon as we got home, the boys climbed onto the couch and watched a movie!
Rachel and Jaden came over and the Iphones and Ipods came out and each kid was watching or playing on their devices.

I added the netflix app and now Link can watch Treasure Island. That boy was soooo excited!!!

Things a teacher never likes to hear

These have been said by E this week:

Me: What did you learn about today?
E: Firedrills

Me: What is your favorite thing about school?
E: Gym.....oh and recess!

Me: What was your favorite thing today?
E: The coloring.

Me: How was your day?
E: It was amazing. We played lots of games!

Nate: What did you do today?
E: I can't remember.
***In his defense, I bombard him with questions when he gets home. Then, Nate comes home and he doesn't want to recap again!****

Ethan is terrified of fire alarms. He says it hurts his ears. His teacher warned the class that Thursday was a fire drill day. He was so nervous that morning. When I picked him up, he was grinning and said, "MOM. It was not bad. At preschool the fire drill goes BAAAAA BAAAAAA BAAAAA, but at school just goes baaaa baaaa baaaa!" He cracks me up!

First Day of Kindergarten

Today, my boys started back to school/daycare after the best summer ever!Ethan started his first day in Kindergarten much better than Mommy and Daddy. He told us, "I am not nervous a bit." Well, that is great kid. Your parents are nervous enough for all of us!!
This smile was forced. What you don't see in this picture are the 100 students and parent to the left watching him get his picture taken. He had had enough with the photos!
I met his teacher on Friday and she looked about 9 1/2 months pregnant. AND.....she had her baby this weekend, so he didn't even get to meet her. Thank goodness they had a long term sub already lined up and he came in today!
Nate and I would have stayed all day, but E was ready for us to leave! Sooo....we reluctantly left.
Link had a great day! He knew his teacher already and the kids in his room. His teacher told me he didn't nap. When I asked him why he replied, "I didn't know when you were coming to get me." I quickly said, "EVERY DAY...AFTER naps!! Take a nap!!!"

Over the river and through the woods

to Memaw and Pappy's house we go. I was able to take a few pictures of some of the things they were able to do this week!Pappy put out some bases and the boys played baseball all week.
Lincoln ran laps around the house.
Pappy brought some walkie-talkies home and they played Star Wars guys. Lincoln was Obi-wan, Pappy was Anikan, and Ethan was Darth Vader.
Pappy said that they were in and out of the house all day! He said they even ran outside in their underwear....the boys that is!
Today, their neighbor Mark, came by on his go-cart. He let the boys sit on it and try his helmet on.
We brought their bikes down with us. E rode a little bit. I did not plan our outfits well. It was cold this weekend. I didn't bring any socks! The boys ran around enough to keep warm.
